This blog is the often amusing, sometimes dangerous den of two British writers of contemporary and paranormal romance, and urban fantasy. Most of our stories are based in the UK and our heroes and heroines are passionate Brits - yes, passionate Brits exist! Come on in out of the cold, pull up a chair and see for yourself...

#BlogTour The Spell of Summer #Giveaway #Contest #BookCover

First off, here's what you can win here on this stop: an eBook copy of The Spell of Summer and a exclusive necklace, made just for this tour, by Dzyne'd It.

International. Ends 7th July. All you have to do is answer the question in the comments, and you'll have to scroll down to find the question :)

Two Covers, Two Stories

What you see on the left and right are two different covers for the same book. The one with the couple on is for the eBook and the one with the woman on is for the paperback.

The decision to have two covers had more to do with conveying the layers within this story, than any marketing experiment. There is more than one story within this book. Aside from the side characters, who actually do have their own stories that we begin to see glimpses of, the leading lady has two parts to her tale: the first is to do with romance; the second, and perhaps most important, is to do with everything that has happened in her past, that now makes up who she is and wants to be. It's important that readers know there is an abundance of romance in this book. It's also important that readers know they're getting much more than that.

This little snippet is probably a good example. It's only short, but there's more than one thing going on here, and this is your question:

Which part of this moment do you think was the most important to me when writing this scene?

Just comment below to let me know and you'll be entered to win the eBook and necklace. I'll also pop back at the end of the contest, and let you know the answer :)

Thanks so much for taking part! The entire tour with all the links to all the stops can be found here - prize at every stop!

Thanks for stopping by.

  9. Thanks to everyone for entering!!! MystWeaver has won the eBook and necklace on this stop. Congrats!

And to answer my own question... First, all your answers are valid - all those things crossed my mind when I was writing the scene: the anticipation leading up to the moment when he sees her, etc. It's important! But the MOST important aspect of this little scene for me (and this will be abstract unless you've read the book) are these words: "stretching down to feel for the best place to land". It was imperative, to me, that the moment Jamie finds her / they find each other, is when she's "trying to land". It mimics their first meeting in chapter one, and its symbolic of his referring to her as "like a bird" later on. For me, it's these little things (that ultimately most readers might never notice) that make a story three dimensional.

Thanks again for taking part! :D
