Treat yourself this Christmas

I apologize for missing last Monday's post. I was nursing a headache, which was brought on by a hangover that I had all through Sunday from Saturday night. It was my sisters 30th and we went out, needless to say I drank more than I thought I had. Woops. It was a good night, though. So, I can't and won't complain.

It's Christmas week. I don't know about anyone else, but I feel like December has flown by, which I suppose is normal considering you spend the first three weeks of this month rushing around and figuring out every detail of Christmas - and then the last week of this month will be spent on trying to recover - and somehow it seems like there is no time for anything else.

I'm sorted. Bought and wrapped the last two presents on Sunday. Cards were done at the beginning of the month. Foods bought, drinks bought; I am now starting to feel festive. It seems so sad to say that now especially since we have two days left, but after speaking to a few other people I'm not the only one who has been unable to get into the festive spirit.

One thing that has helped me get there is choosing presents for myself. I don't really know what I want this year for Christmas and so people have been gifting me money, which is fine with me as I can spend it on DVDs and books. (I have a 20 page Amazon wishlist. I gotta shorten it somehow.) The only problem is - naturally - I want everything on my wishlist so it is a tough decision trying to figure out what I would like to buy now at this point in time. Needless to say I will be taking my time spending money on myself.

If you're looking to treat yourself to a little something this Christmas, or you have a friend or family member who loves reading then you might be interested in the following:

Title: Broken Lights
Series: None. Standalone
Author: Dianna Hardy
Genre: Contemporary Romantic Fiction

Norman Smithson is at the end of the line. His wife left him, women don't look at him, he was made redundant, and at forty, he could be just that little bit slimmer. He would be a has-been if he'd ever been a 'was' in the first place. He's not the Alpha male of the 21st century – or of any century. He was the chubby oddball who used to sit silently at the back of the class so he wouldn't get picked on.

Rosa is a dreadlocked, tattooed and pierced twenty-something, who uses her image as armour to keep everyone away from every broken thing about her. But her past is about to catch up with her ... at the exact moment Norman finds himself in completely the wrong place, at the worst possible time.

One gunshot, one scramble for life, one unlikely couple, one very long night ... can one damaged woman and one ordinary man, find the extraordinary in the very last second they're given?

Broken Lights is a standalone story of what's really worth fighting for, when one second is all you have left.

Broken Lights is Dianna Hardy's fabulous new release. It is such a good book. I can't even begin to tell you how good this book is. So, I'm going to leave you with a snippet from my review:

"Broken Lights is a beautiful story that not only proves that life really can change within a second, but that we all have hidden strengths and capabilities beyond our own beliefs. That we have the power to make a difference in other peoples life as well as our own."

Dianna is a fabulous writer and she dabbles in a few genres, so if you haven't already checked her work out then now is the time to do so. Especially because the first book in her Witching Pen Series, and the first book in her Eye of the Storm Series are Free.

My jaw was on the floor by the time I finished the last book in the series - which is actually a spin-off novel titled The Last Dragon - it's amazing, the way Dianna has weaved mythology and many belief systems together.

And the Eye of the Storm Series... Werewolves, enough said really, but the series is hot, funny, heartfelt, and packed full of action and secrets and oh, it's so so good.

So do go download your FREE copies of The Witching Pen (The Witching Pen Series: Book One) and Releasing the Wolf (Eye of the Storm Series: Book One) today. Trust me, you will be hooked.

Another book I had the pleasure of reading this year is The Fire of Beltane by Angela Aaron. Well, I say read, but I actually downloaded the audio book and I could not stop listening. It's an AMAZING story. A breathtaking fantasy full of action, magic, timeless/ageless love, humour, passion, and my god, it will have your heart pounding, sighing, and breaking all at once. So if you love fantasy romances you definitely have to check this book out.

The Fire of Beltane
Where the past is real, when the impossible becomes possible and dreams come true…literally.

When Aedan is denied his soul mate that fateful Beltane night, he is given the gift of immortality, permitting him to wait for her prophesied return. Reunited after eleven-hundred years, he is disheartened to learn his true love holds no memory of him.
Wishing for a distraction from the winter doldrums, Aislinn never expects to be caught up in a whirlwind of magic and danger with a man she has spent her whole life dreaming about. What he asks of her tests the very reality she holds dear.
Now, as Beltane approaches, and with time running out, Aedan and Aislinn must reach Ireland to pledge their love to one another. But in order to live out their destinies, they must overcome an ancient foe determined to see an end to their fated love.
Eleven hundred years he waited for her. He could lose her in a single moment.

I haven't done as much reading as I would have liked this year, but that's due to my three re-releases. The first was my sweet contemporary romance, Stepping Stones. A family orientated story set around Christmas. Perfect if you are in the mood for a festive themed sweet romance.

Stepping Stones

Blurb:

There's nothing like a wedding to bring the family together....

If not for her baby sister’s impending marriage, Margaret West would never return home. But after six long years, she finds herself a maid of honor who must answer to the people she left behind.

If her parents’ interrogation doesn’t drive her to drink, facing her foster brother, Adrian, just might. To make matters worse, her ex-fiancĂ© is the vicar who will conduct her sister’s ceremony.

Everyone demands to know why she ran off. But the more time she spends at home, the more Margaret realizes even she doesn’t know the real reason.

Then of course there was the re-release of my Blood Series, which I have gone on about tons since Summer. I promise I'm not going to do that now, but if you are a fan of vampires and/or werewolves you may very well enjoy this series. It's packed with action, gore, humour, sex, and lots of blood. How can you resist such a mix? ;) The books are available in paperback and eBook.

Cranberry Blood

Blood Series: Book One

Blurb:

Killing Vampires? Easy.
Tracking someone? Simple.
Helping, and protecting a Vampire slayer . . . . Bloody hard work!

Thirteen years ago, Brendan Daniels made a deal with a psychic. In exchange for information on the whereabouts of a Rogue Werewolf, he promised to help and protect Sofia's granddaughter. Unfortunately, he had no idea what he was letting himself, or his Pack, in for.

Nothing about Heather is simple, from her weird dietary needs to her life’s mission. The girl can handle herself, but the promise to protect her soon becomes a need, and one he can't fully understand.

Vampire Slayer.
Born Infected.
Addicted to blood . . . but not by choice.

Heather Ryan is the current Slayer in a long family line. Like all before her, she has spent her life searching for her ancestor, Marko Pavel, the Vampire her family has sworn to kill. If that isn't complicated enough, she is also a born "Infected", and to keep her from becoming insane or giving in to her darker side, she is on a very strict diet.

Now that her Grandmother Sofia has passed, it is up to Heather to take the family legacy into her own hands. Or at least, it would have been...if her Grandmother hadn't sent a Werewolf to help her.

What is the irritating Brendan supposed to help her with? Sofia never told either of them. Luckily, it doesn't take long for Heather and Brendan to find out that the Vampires have big plans, and that the Leeches have waited a long time for them both.

This title contains explicit language, violence, and some scenes of a sexual nature.

She-Wolf
Blood Series Prequel

Blurb:

Dealing with the Rogue Werewolves terrorizing his Pack? Simple.
Trying to convince his mate he does want to be with her? Bloody impossible.

Owen MacLaren is the Alpha's son and the Pack's second, and he has never been one to let anything get to him. So when a bunch of Rogues begin purposely dumping mutilated bodies around the Pack Keep, he is more than ready to deal with the Werewolves responsible.

But one night off and a trip to a local strip joint for a colleague's stag night changes things, and Owen soon discovers he isn't immune to everything . . . .

Being an independent Loup and travelling the world? Easy.
Having to come home and face the Werewolf who broke her young heart? Challenging.

After five years away, Clare Walker finds herself back home in Scotland, working in a strip club. The tips are decent, and she gets to dance, but it isn't a place she thought she would ever be, let alone Owen, her Pack second and the mate she has always desired.

Although Owen is determined to prove he wants to be with Clare, things can't go smoothly between them, not when they have past issues to sort out and a bunch of unusual 'Rogues' to deal with.

This title contains explicit language, violence, and graphic sex.

I am 10,000 words into the untitled second book in the Blood Series, but with having to get ready for Christmas, and visiting family, I've not had a chance to add any more words to the draft yet; something I plan to do as soon as Boxing day is over and done with.

Another reason why I haven't made further progress is because I finally decided to publish my novella, Razel Dazzle in print. Razel is a modern retelling of the fairytale Rapunzel. The story is set around Christmas, but the best part is that it is FREE to download from most online retailers. So, if you fancy a sexy fairytale retelling to warm up your Christmas then go grab your copy now. ;)

Razel Dazzle
A modern twist on a long haired tale....

BLURB:

Will she let down her hair for the man of her fantasies?

Famous for her long, golden hair and beaming smile, Razel D’Punz is the hottest model in the industry. But although most women would kill to get ahead in this profession, Razel lives an isolated life; one she has learnt to accept...until she meets Matthew Prince, a new photographer in the business.

Refusing to let her mother/agent’s strict rules stop her from spending time with the man of her fantasies, Razel quickly discovers that one night with Matthew isn’t enough....

And neither is the life she is chained to. Something will have to change if she is ever to get her very own Happily Ever After.

This title contains explicit language and scenes of a sexual nature.

Well, that's enough shameless pimping from me. I hope you all have a beautiful Christmas, eat, drink, laugh, and generally be merry. I shall see you next Monday for my last post of 2014. How fast has this year gone? Madness.
