Valentines Day: Blood Series Style

So Valentines Day is literally right round the corner. I am sure most of you are pretty prepared, but then again perhaps you have left it too the last minute, or maybe you're just looking for one last quirky items to add to the goodie box you have got for your other half?

Yes, I did mention that I had opened a zazzle store at the beginning of January, and it is still a work in progress as in I will constantly be adding products to it, but there are a couple of fun items in my store that you might find amusing or romantic? enough to get for your other half, or point out to them that you wouldn't mind having zed item yourself.

If you have read either She-Wolf (Blood Series: Prequel) or Cranberry Blood (Blood Series: Book One) then you might love these products, and if you are buying them for your other half, well, I think they are fun enough to be enjoyed by someone who has never heard of this series before.

Item Suggestion One: "I've Always Been Yours" Necklace

This is a Clare quote taken from She-Wolf. Sure, it isn't those magical three words, but personally, I still feel this holds a beautiful directness, plus it is romantic.

There are a few choices in regards to the design of the necklace. So you can pick colouring, shape etc

Guys, I personally think this is a present to give to your ladies, and I think it works well for those of you who have been together for a long time, but either way, I think it gets your feelings across beautifully.

Item Suggestion Two: "I've Always Been Yours" Keyring

Same as before, lots of choices for designs, but I think that even if you picked the heart design or went for an oval shape this is a nice one for you Ladies to get your Men, or vice versa. It's still romantic, and I think makes a sweet little side present, don't you?

This is an Owen quote taken from She-Wolf.

It comes in a variety of sizes and colours. So don't feel you have to stick to the red, white, and black theme that my Blood Series products tend to come as.

This is more of a fun present. One that your guys might enjoy as it is sure to stroke their ego; the idea that you can't control yourselves when he just wants a simple kiss.






Item Suggestion Four: "Dating instead of Mating?" Badge

This is another Owen quote from She-Wolf.

And this is definitely just a funny, silly little trinket, which I personally think would go down well for a) anyone who likes a good Werewolf story, b) likes the paranormal genre, and c) at the very least understands what "mating" means in the correct way and circumstance. Don't want to go freaking anyone out, but I think this is a quirky little present, which might actually be quite fun to put in that secret valentines day card.

Item Suggestion Five: "I am the embodiment of beauty and perfection" Ladies T-shirt

This is a quote taken from my modern fairytale retelling of Rapunzel, Razel Dazzle.

Guys, this is your turn to stroke your Ladies ego by letting her know that you think she is beautiful and perfect and should be proud. Not that she needs a t-shirt to know that she is beautiful and perfect in your eyes, but yet again, it's just a funny t-shirt that she can kick about in and when she is cleaning or running around after the kids and not feeling as powerful and as fabulous as she should be, she can look down and remind herself that she is.

Best Valentine's Day I've Ever Had

So, Elizabeth asked me what the best Valentine's Day I ever had was. I almost didn't answer this question, because the answer is ... none. I still think I have the best Valentine's Day to come. Honestly, all my Valentine's Days have been kind of average and I think the reason might be one of two (or both).

1. I find Valentine's Day to be horribly commercial, and I would rather someone made some grand romantic gesture for me on some random day that meant more than Valentine's Day, and all my partners have known this.
2. My expectations are probably sky high. A 'best Valentine's Day' for me would be to be whisked away to some exotic place on a two week holiday - private villa on a private beach where we can have loud sex six-ways 'til Sunday - where everything was paid for and I didn't have to worry about a thing except being pampered and filling my days with explorative adventures.

Well, that costs a hell of a lot of money, and I've never ended up with rich guys! But in my head, I've always thought I'd just earn that kind of money and pay for it myself, you know? I never grew up thinking my man would be providing, but that I would provide for myself. Not very romantic, I know, but perhaps more realistic ... a little :)

There you have it. But I sincerely hope that YOU have a 'best Valentine's Day' either tomorrow, or soon!

A Champagne Lunch?

Dianna’s question for me today; In the spirit of Valentine’s, what is your favourite location for a champagne lunch?

Well, I haven’t really had much romance in my life so I can’t say that I have a favourite location for any type of romantic situation, but if there is one thing I am good at it is setting the scene.

I have to say I’m not actually a very fussy person. I have always personally believed that romance is not the scene/setting, but the company and how the time is spent together.

Also, I strongly believe that romance is all about interpretation; one person may conjure candlelight, roses, soft music, and dinner in a secluded room, or even a busy restaurant, another person may think that a day at a funfair is romantic, sitting on a bench eating fish and chips.

So, with all that in mind, and pretending for the slightest moment that I have wonderful company to share a champagne dinner with . . . . I shall set some scenes that I might find to be a romantic situation.

Outdoors; a park, or field. A picnic under a blossom tree – I happen to find them very beautiful – late on a summer afternoon, watching the sunset. Cliché? Perhaps, but I’m fantasising here.

Outdoors; the back garden, or a hotel balcony. Sitting outside, somewhere private, with the stars above – I’m a bit of a night owl. I much prefer the night to the day.

Indoors: your home. I think this is pretty self explanatory, but yes, a romantic meal at home is also a nice idea.

Indoors: I love the theatre. It is a very magical and well, spiritual place for me. So, champagne dinner and a show. A little straight forward, but watching a love story on stage, and then spending time with someone special afterwards – or before hand – is still romantic, at least to me.

I think I could go on, but really it is the effort and thought put in to romantic plans that make them so special.

Well, I know I want be getting a champagne dinner this year, but I hope you all have a lovely Valentine’s day, and that you remember that love should be celebrated every day, not just Feb 14^th.

Valentine's Post: Loving through the tough times.

We all know Valentine's Day is a commercial day. An exercise that enables the retail industry to cash in a little more.

Nevertheless, when I think of Valentine's Day, I usually think of childhood love - those moments in school when you were wondering what you'd get from your boyfriend, or if you didn't have one, what you might receive from a secret admirer. And then you tried not to look gutted if you received nothing, lol.

Lately, at the age of 34, I now think of Valentine's as an opportunity to thank the one you're with. True love is not flowers and roses and chocolates, or jetting off to romantic destinations, or the special, expensive dinner... It is surviving the tough times. It's knowing that there will be ups and downs; that relationships will have rocky moments. It's trusting someone enough to allow them to see you at your darkest, or most vulnerable, and realising that you are still loved even after it all, and understanding that you would do the same for them.

It's been a tough three months. There have been illnesses within the family, a passing away, and an indication that the next year will be incredibly hard.

So, Happy Valentine's Day to Alastair, the love of my life. I know that you are the love of my life, because we've been through shitty times as well as through golden moments ... and survived. I'm glad you're still here :)
